Land Resources
1．土地资源面临严重的压力。
2．但是土地不是提供我们食物的惟一的资源。

We are now faced with a very important problem, that is, the rapid increasing pres sure of population on land, or rather, on land resources. Most people consider it a serious problem because land resources are limited. However, we need not to be pessimistic about it.
Although land has long been the main source for our food supply, it is not the only one. We have vast sea areas in the world waiting to be cultivated and developed. Fish farming is playing a more and more important role in providing us with food. In the fu ture we can sow fish and plants in the sea and harvest them.
Another thing we can do is to develop new strains. Many scientists have achieved good resuhs in this field. For examaple, a kind of new strain of com invented by Ameri can scientists has already produced more grain and mused an enormous world increase in food production. It is certain that further research work should be done to produce higher yield.

我们正面临着一个极为重要的问题，即人口快速增长对土地，或者说对土地资源所造成的压力。因为土地资源是有限的，所以大多数人都认识到了问题的严重性。但是，我们不必为此悲观。
虽然土地一直是解决食品供给的主要资源，但是土地不是提供食物的惟一资源。我们有广阔的海域等待着去开发。渔业在为人类提供食物方面起着越来越重要的作用。将来我们可以在海里养鱼和种植物，并且收获它们。
另一解决办法是开发新的物种。许多科学家在这个领域中已经取得了很好的成绩。譬如美国科学家发明的一种玉米新品种，已经使粮食大大增产，并且使世界食品生产有显著增长。为了生产更多的粮食，还要做进一步的研究工作。
